Dreams Motivate Students

The following was contributed by Joe Hetherington

What is the motivation for Service Above Self as expressed by Rotary – called Selfless Service in the Gita? What is the reason the Indian children are so respectful? If India has a population of 1.2 billion; then the top 25% of the best educated represent the entire population of USA – 300 million!

The USA represents only 5% of the world population, and with such a precious resource some citieshave less than 50% of the children entering the first grade actually graduate – 38% in Trenton –similar in Detroit. This translates to the fact India has more honors students than USA has students!

We must address this problem seriously, and money is not the issue. Dreams motivate students.

I refer you to two videos below. Please take the time to watch the 2 minute movie to inspire cooperative action to students in India. It is also significant that the God most widely revered in South India is Ganesha as the Remover of Obstacles.

Also....you may be suprised by the information in the following video clip: "Did You Know?"

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://bristolrotarians.blogspot.com/2009/06/service-above-self-dreams-motivate.html' title='Service Above Self...
